A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Gregorius’ Notes: On the Weird OSR Fantasy #Year 2021

Gregorius’ Notes: On the Weird OSR Fantasy #Year 2021 is a role playing game supplement written and published by Kai Pütz a.k.a Gregorius21778 for use with OSR and Lamentations of the Flame Princess. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is a collection of articles originally posted on the author’s blog.

Gregorius' Notes: On the Weird OSR Fantasy #Year 2021The supplement is available as a 21-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2 but was purchased at a reduced price during a sale. One page is the front cover, one the front matter and one the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one of them more printer friendly.

I Search the Lobcock! is a d66 table of loot for flunkies, aimed at LotFP but in actuality suitable for just about any fantasy system, and even some that are not.

Why is the Hermit Shunned? is a d20 list of results.

Gregorius’ Notes: On the Weird OSR Fantasy #Year 2021 in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. The text maintains a two-column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are a number of stock illustrations, mostly black and white but one colour. Presentation is okay.

Given that this is a selection of articles from a blog, there are a wide range of subjects covered, so there isn’t really a theme to this beyond fantasy and primarily LotFP as a system. Quite a lot of the articles are neutral enough to use with any system, and more could be adapted comparatively easily to other OSR games. Gregorius’ Notes: On the Weird OSR Fantasy #Year 2021 is a useful, albeit somewhat random, collection of material and it can be found by clicking here.
