Full Moon Shines by R. P. Davis is a role playing game supplement published by Wizards of the Coast through the DMs Guild Community Content Programme. This is an adventure for 6th level characters for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
The supplement is available as a 13-page PDF from DMs Guild for $1.95 but was received at a reduced price thanks to a special offer. One page is the front cover and one the Credits and ads. There is also a PNG map of the final battle location.
The Introduction explains that the adventure is set in Timberton in Impiltur, but can be dropped into any frontier setting. It explains what rules are used and that information has been hyperlinked for relevant stats. There is also a warning that the encounters are classed as “Deadly” for 6th level adventurers; lower level parties are highly at risk and the assumption is made that parties are balanced with Warrior, Arcane, Divine and Rogue.
In the adventure, Timberton has been plagued by a number of attacks by a giant dog-like creature, believed to be a lycanthrope. No-one has been killed as yet, but many have been injured. The characters stumble across one of the attacks and will either decide to investigate themselves or be asked by the local authorities to do so – the local defence forces are dealing with a hobgoblin incursion. The characters will need to travel around town, asking various knowledgeable parties for information, not all of which is accurate, in order to find out the cause of the attacks.
Full Moon Shines in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough content that these would have been useful. There are as mentioned a number of external links to relevant content; there are no stat blocks in the supplement as a result. The text maintains a two-column colour format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of presumably stock black and white illustrations, plus the colour map. Presentation is good.
This is a potentially lethal mystery with a twist. Quite a bit of it involves asking questions, but there are a couple of dangerous encounters too, especially the final one. The twist is interesting and what’s going on is not what it seems. It should be easy enough to drop the adventure into other settings too. Full Moon Shines is a nice little adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
