Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Po’Kesteros, the Lostling (PFRPG) by Matt Banach and Justin Sluder is a role playing game supplement published by Rite Publishing for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result. This is a single NPC at three different CRs.
The supplement is available as a 16-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.95 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one the Open Game License and two are ads.
Po’Kesteros, the Lostling opens with details on the NPC, who was kidnapped as an infant by the dark fey. The half-elf still dresses like a lost boy, even though he’s now middle-aged. What makes the half-elf stand out is his luck; in battle or out of it, luck works for Po’Kesteros. He recently lost control of the Court of Fell Fortunes, the thieves’ guild of the Tarnished Souk, to Z.Z. Grimshanks, the Knave of Sharp Seconds; remember, though, Po’Kesteros is lucky. This is accompanied by the standard details on Dreamburning, lore and using the NPC.
The three different versions follow, arranged in the book from high to low CR.
The CR 7 version is a fey half-elf alchemist (vivisectionist) 1/luckbringer 5.
The CR 10 version is a fey trickster half-elf alchemist (vivisectionist) 1/luckbringer 10/ninja 1.
The CR 20 version is a fey trickster half-elf alchemist. (vivisectionist) 1/luckbringer 14/ninja 2.
Each has two variants; Adaptable and Preternatural Creature.
Po’Kesteros is a luckbringer, a class detailed in The Secrets of the Luckbringer. The relevant details are duplicated here. Also included are new feats, new traits and a weapon enhancement, which shatters dreams, along with magic items and new weapons.
Templates are adaptable creature, who can adapt to overcome any environment or threat, fey creature, preternatural creature and trickster creature.
Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Po’Kesteros, the Lostling (PFRPG) in Review
The PDF is bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and seemed to be free of error. As well as the cover illustration, there are a number of black and white probably stock illustrations. Navigation is decent.
Po’Kesteros makes a bad foe and, frankly, a bad friend too. And not necessarily because of ill intent, either. The NPC’s luck can make a right mess of things for both foes and for friends, even if they don’t want it to. Being able to play with luck, in a game that has a significant amount of dice rolling, makes Po’Kesteros a genuine wild card of a character, and one who’s rarely happy, either. Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Po’Kesteros, the Lostling (PFRPG) describes an interesting, complex NPC who’s dangerous to be around and can be found by clicking here.
