Dungeon Dressing: Strange Things 2.0 (P1)

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Dungeon Dressing: Strange Things 2.0 (P1)

Dungeon Dressing: Strange Things 2.0 (P1) by James Graham and Mike Welham is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

Dungeon Dressing: Strange Things 2.0 (P1)The supplement is available as a 12-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $3.75 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a special bundle. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one the front matter and Contents, one the Open Game License and two are ads.

Strange Things explains that dungeons can contain many strange things and that the enclosed tables can be used to dress the dungeon or be built into its backstory.

Strange Atmospheres has a list of strange airs and feelings for the dungeon.

Strange Growths starts by looking in detail at mushrooms, moulds, mineral deposits, stone outcroppings and weirder growths before having a table of growths.

Strange Magic Effects is just as it sounds; odd magic effects for a dungeon.

Strange Smells is peculiar things to smell.

Strange Sounds is peculiar sounds to hear.

The PDF is bookmarked with the major sections and subsections linked. The Contents is to a similar level of depth and is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of black and white stock illustrations. Presentation is decent.

Though this is stated to be for Pathfinder, there are almost no game stats used, making it essentially system neutral. The various tables are d100, but only Strange Magic Effects has 100 results; the others have less, often much less. This is a revised version, but it appears to be little different from the material in GM’s Miscellany: Dungeon Dressing, if it’s different at all; if you have that supplement, you can skip getting this one. Other than that, it does provide useful material for dressing a dungeon. Dungeon Dressing: Strange Things 2.0 (P1) can be found by clicking here.
