Dungeon Dressing: Gates & Portals by Greg Marks is a role playing game supplement published by Raging Swan Press for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement used to be available as a 13-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $2.45 but this version has since been taken down and replaced by a new version costing $3.75. Two pages are the front and rear covers, one an ad, two the front matter, one the Contents and Foreword and one is the Open Game License. The PDF comes in two versions, one designed for print and high-end devices, the other for mobile and low-end devices.
Table A: Characteristics and Appearance explains that magical portals and gates can move characters around far faster than normal methods and starts with some definitions, details on construction, locks and keys and destination and return travel. This is followed by a d100 table with 25 results of general descriptions for the portal or gate.
Table B: Dressing and Features is a d100 table with 47 results that add pieces of dressing or descriptions to the gates.
Table C: Location is a d100 table with 25 results for the end destination of the portal; naturally, these results are not for specific worlds or settings.
Dungeon Dressing: Gates & Portals in Review
The PDF is well bookmarked with major and minor sections linked. The Contents only covers the major sections, but is hyperlinked. Navigation is good. The text maintains a two-column format and appeared to be free of errors. There is a single piece of black and white stock art. Presentation is okay.
This supplement is simple enough in concept; it has three tables for generating magical gates and portals and making them interesting, and it does this well enough. The original version of Dungeon Dressing: Gates & Portals is no longer available but the updated version can be found by clicking here.
