Big Brawl in Berlin

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement Big Brawl in Berlin

Big Brawl in Berlin by Vincent Ginsburger is a role playing game supplement published by Ulisses Spiele through the Infiniverse Exchange Community Content Programme for use with Torg Eternity.

The supplement is available as a 16 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover and one the front matter. The supplement also comes in a 17-page German version.

Big Brawl in BerlinIt first starts by listing the cosm – Core Earth – and the location – Berlin, Germany – before moving onto the Synopsis. It explains that the Storm Knights are tracking a Cyberknight from the Cyberpapacy who has turned up dead just as he was about to acquire some Occultech nanobots from Tharkold, and they follow the trail to a Bratva boss who is selling the nanobots. It also explains that Core Earth’s atmosphere is intended to be rendered through the recipes of action-oriented crime series. It then explains what really happened, and that there are a lot of people after the nanobots. The adventure is intended to be used between Raiders of the Lost Arc (from Delphi Missions: Cyberpapacy) and either Demon’s Bargain or Demon Death Race (from Delphi Missions: Tharkold and Delphi Missions: Rising Storm), and it is supposed to take place before the events of The Fires of Ra.

Briefing has the characters briefed on their mission and the survival kit for the mission.

Scene 1: Autopsy of a Cyborg has the investigation of the body of the dead Cyberknight and his room.

Scene 2: The Protesters has a demonstration about rationing in the country.

Scene 3: Gumshoeing in Berlin has the characters finding everyone involved and interviewing them, if they can.

Scene 4: The Auction and the Mac Guffin is the supposed auction which degenerates into a multi-way fight between the Storm Knights, Bratva, police and forces of several cosms, as well as an escaped auction item. The Aftermath wraps things up.

Threats has stats for the various people and creatures involved in the adventure.

Big Brawl in Berlin in Review

The PDF lacks bookmarks and, though comparatively short, has enough sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a two-column format and a number of minor errors were noticed. There are no illustrations. Presentation is adequate.

The adventure is in many ways intended to be a combination of investigation and large fight, with various different participants with various different motives. It’s also intended to take place in Year One; in other words, prior to the world that is described in the various sourcebooks; this does limit its use to a specific time period. Though it may be possible to use later, it will need modifying. The Storm Knights will also get to encounter representatives from various different cosms. Big Brawl in Berlin is an okay adventure and it can be found by clicking here.
