Bat Cultist Lair by Paul Ligorski is a role playing game supplement published by Heart of Arcana for use with Mausritter and is a short adventure.
The supplement is available as a as a five page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. One page is the front cover and one the front matter.
The first page of content is for a bat. The stats are laid out the same way as in the core book, and like those in the core book there are six different types, in this case named individuals.
The second page of content has the stats for the Mouse Cultist. In addition, there are three new pieces of gear, crab leg, white oak vessel and ripe guano. There’s also cave sickness, an illness caused by exposure to cave guano, as a note at the bottom explains, and poisoned, both new Conditions.
The final page of content, Story Overview, briefly describes the cave where the bats live and what they want, and the mouse cultists that serve them and their veneration of an artefact.
Bat Cultist Lair in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not needed. Navigation is fine. The text is essentially a single column format and appeared to be free of errors. There are a number of black and white illustrations, all public domain, including for the items. Presentation is okay. The item and condition cards can be printed out, so that they can be used as normal. Unfortunately, the coloured backgrounds cannot be turned off, which makes printing these out inconvenient and wasteful, which could be improved.
Strictly speaking, this isn’t really an adventure; it’s an adventure seed with a single, unmapped, location. A map would be helpful, but given it’s basically just a single cave, it’s possible to manage without one, as something like that is easy enough to draw. Bat Cultist Lair is a simple single location adventure seed and it can be found by clicking here.
