A Spluttering And A Splashing

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement A Spluttering And A Splashing

A Spluttering And A Splashing is a role playing game supplement written and published by Philipp Teich. This is a dungeon for MÖRK BORG.

The supplement is available as a Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. The PDF comes in two version, one single pages, the other spreads. The single page PDF has 12 pages with two pages being the front and rear covers and one the front matter. There is also a zip with three png maps, two suitable for players, one of which is printer friendly, and a printer friendly map for the GM.

A Spluttering And A SplashingThe opening paragraph explains that there are rumours about an amphibian god with supernatural powers hiding in a cave near a village, and a prophecy relating to that deity. Part of a map has been found that shows the way to the cave. There then follows a d8 table of rumours that characters could hear.

The next page has the GM’s map of the cave.

After a paragraph explaining where the entrance is hidden, each room is described. Each room has a name, a brief description of the area followed by bullet points of items of interest, which may include monsters, and exits and where they lead. If there are any other options available, these are also described. The sidebar shows where the room is on the map and, if monster stats are needed, gives those. The final room is where the amphibian creature is.

The final page of content describes one of the monsters, the Dö’Vinc, though this just duplicates the stats from the sidebar.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and is short enough that these are not essential, though they would have been appreciated. Navigation is okay. The text maintains a single column with sidebar format and appeared to be free of errors. Except for the map, there is a single illustration. Presentation is okay.

This is a short, simple dungeon for MÖRK BORG, and whether or not the amphibian being is truly a god is really up to the GM. Given the circular arrangement of the dungeon, there is only one way through it, though there are side rooms that characters can enter if they wish, making this pretty linear. Given the type of adventure, it should be easy enough to drop in anywhere. A Spluttering And A Splashing is a decent little dungeon for MÖRK BORG and it can be found by clicking here.
