A Risky Proposition by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as a 21 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three the front matter and three the Open Game License.
The opening paragraph explains that the travellers are approached by a criminal-looking individual in the Sonora Sector – the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space – who lives up to his appearance by being a criminal. He wants them to raid a law enforcement station and remove evidence that could convict the head of his criminal organisation.
The Patron has stats for the hirer.
The Boss has stats for the crime family head who the characters will not encounter.
Complications has a number of potential problems, which are to only be expected with a job of this type.
Random Encounters Inside of the Compound has a 2d6 encounter table.
Key to the Law Enforcement Compound has the locations in the place.
The Hit Team are hired killers who may be sent after the characters.
Roster of Police Officers in the Compound are stats for them.
Security Robots in the Compound has stats for the robots.
Conditions for Success is what’s needed to succeed.
The final page of content is a map of the compound.
A Risky Proposition in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and has enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation could be better. The text maintains a single column format and some minor errors were noticed. There are no illustrations bar the map. Presentation is adequate.
If the characters agree to go ahead with this mission, they will frankly deserve whatever happens to them for, truthfully, being complete idiots. The target they need to infiltrate is dangerous, their employer is a criminal whose boss is worse and neither are reliable. This is a foolish mission to undertake and any remotely intelligent characters should treat it the way it deserves and not bother, which means that this has the potential to be a very short adventure. A Risky Proposition is a dangerously stupid adventure to do and can be found by clicking here.
