A Collision of Worlds by Joseph Mohr is a role playing game supplement published by Old School Role Playing for use with Cepheus Engine. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.
The supplement is available as an 18 page Pay What You Want PDF from DriveThruRPG. Two pages are the front and rear covers, three pages are the front matter and three pages are the Open Game License.
The opening paragraphs explain that the Olonesean Empire is known in the Sonora Sector for being expansionistic and aggressive, only held in check by two of the older races. One of these, the Ilsuni Directorate, has uncovered evidence that the empire is buying new weapons technology. The characters are hired to travel to an airless world, find the factory making the technology, recover evidence and destroy the factory. They are being sent so the Directorate can maintain plausible deniability and not start a war.
Game Master Notes state that the adventure is set in the Frontiers of Space setting and, although it could be placed elsewhere, the interactions between the different alien races make the adventure. Various problems are listed; the factory is on an airless world, the manufacturing robots are dangerous and the weapon is an incurable bioweapon.
Planet 427-574 gives details on the planet itself and that pirates can be encountered in the system, as there is a pirate base on a moon. Stats are given for the pirates.
The Huskura Corporation Factory gives stats for the people and robots at the factory before describing the factory itself.
Conditions for Success has two main conditions, each of which has three different options.
Finally, there is a labelled map of the factory.
A Collision of Worlds in Review
The PDF lacks bookmarks and is long enough with enough different sections that these would have been useful. Navigation is poor. The text maintains a single column format and a number of errors were noticed, some grammatical but also a mention of a deafening explosion in an airless environment. There are a couple of stock colour images and the map, which unfortunately does not come in a player friendly version. Navigation is okay.
Although its stated in the Game Master Notes that the interactions in the Sonora Sector make the adventure, all that’s really needed is an expansionistic power and one that wants to stop them. The larger political situation is not gone into at all beyond the opening paragraphs, so this adventure is far easier to place elsewhere than is suggested. The bioweapon is potentially dangerous to be around, as it seems the manufacturer hasn’t considered such things as making it safe to transport. In fact, it sounds so dangerous that the users, if they collect enough bombs, are more likely to wipe themselves out first. This is a bit implausible. A Collision of Worlds is a simple adventure where the characters have to clear out a location and escape and it can be found by clicking here.
