#1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Nonmagic Special Qualities for Weapons

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement #1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Nonmagic Special Qualities for Weapons

#1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Nonmagic Special Qualities for Weapons by Owen K.C. Stephens is a role playing game supplement published by Rogue Genius Games (originally Super Genius Games) for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a three-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle. One page is the Open Game License and credits.

The first page has some standard text for the #1 With a Bullet Point range explaining the philosophy and what the supplements contain.

#1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Nonmagic Special Qualities for WeaponsThe second page has the actual content. This starts with a single paragraph explaining that it has new nonmagical weapon properties, to expand the existing ones.

Back Spike is a spike on the rear that adds piercing damage to the damage types possible.

Basket Hilt increased the CMD against disarm and sunder manoeuvres and gives a shield bonus. Two-handed weapons cannot have this and throwing weapons are no longer throwing weapons.

Flamberge is a weapon with a wavy pattern and may result in an attack of opportunity.

Parry Hooks are forward-facing spikes on two-handed swords, bastard swords and two-handed hafted weapons that have the same effect as a flamberge.

Ringed increases the heft and momentum of a weapon, decreasing attack but increasing damage.

Springy weapons have a bonus against disarm and sunder manoeuvres but a penalty to push or sunder targets.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains the old three-column landscape format used by Super Genius Games and appeared to be almost free of errors. There is a single piece of stock art. Presentation is okay.

This has six qualities that make non-magical weapons more interesting, though they could also be used with magical weapons. However, it’s really only five qualities; Parry Hooks are essentially identical to Flamberge – the only difference is the type of weapon – and can’t be used together and don’t stack. Which feels like one of them could have been gotten rid of and merged with the other. It would have been better to have a definitely different quality, rather than a practically identical one. #1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Nonmagic Special Qualities for Weapons can be found by clicking here.
