#1 With a Bullet Point: 5 Meta-Combat Feats

A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement #1 With a Bullet Point: 5 Meta-Combat Feats

#1 With a Bullet Point: 5 Meta-Combat Feats by Owen K.C. Stephens is a role playing game supplement published by Rogue Genius Games (originally Super Genius Games) for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a four-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle. One page is the Open Game License and credits.

#1 With a Bullet Point: 5 Meta-Combat FeatsThe first page has some standard text for the #1 With a Bullet Point range explaining the philosophy and what the supplements contain.

The High Concept is longer than normal, as it explains that meta-combat feats are the ability to take advantage of specific circumstances to accomplish the normally impossible. Meta-combat feats also have a cooldown period which is how long before a character can use it again.

Bind and Bash allows the primary weapon to be used to bind a weapon, and then they can be bashed with a shield or secondary weapon.

Duck Out of Sight allows the user to duck out of a creature’s field of vision. Even if in full view of them. Rather useful – perhaps too useful – for ranged specialists.

Hammer Down is a series of attacks used to break through an opponent’s defences to land a half-damage blow.

Over the Top allows the user to throw themselves on a foe and try to knock them prone. Rather like trip, but with extra fiddly bits.

Running Attack allows the user to move at double the movement rate and make two attacks as they do so.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains a three-column portrait format – three column is the old Super Genius layout, but was used with landscape, and doesn’t work so well with portrait – and appeared to be free of errors. There are a couple of stock black and white images. Presentation is okay.

None of these feats are exactly bad – though Duck Out of Sight might be unbalancing if used (im)properly – but none are particularly good either, and a feat is a significant investment of resources. Some are a bit too specific on their use, others are variations on existing feats; none really stand out as something to get. #1 With a Bullet Point: 5 Meta-Combat Feats can be found by clicking here.
