A Review of the Role Playing Game Supplement #1 With a Bullet Point: 2 Options for the Leadership Feat

#1 With a Bullet Point: 2 Options for the Leadership Feat by Owen K.C. Stephens is a role playing game supplement published by Rogue Genius Games (originally Super Genius Games) for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. As such, it is covered by the Open Game License and some parts are considered to be Open Game Content as a result.

The supplement is available as a three-page PDF from DriveThruRPG for $1 but was purchased at a reduced price as part of a bundle. One page is the Open Game License and credits.

#1 With a Bullet Point: 2 Options for the Leadership FeatThe first page has some standard text for the #1 With a Bullet Point range explaining the philosophy and what the supplements contain.

The High Concept discusses the Leadership feat which allows the character to gain a cohort – an NPC follower with class levels – and a group of lower-level followers, most of whom are 1st level. This is to provide other options for those who think the cohort is unbalancingly powerful for a feat and that dozens of 1st level followers are more annoying than useful.

Option 1: Allies and Associates gives three skilled characters, an artificer, healer and sage, who will help but are unwilling to risk their lives. The benefits are information and services gained from Intelligence-based skills, spellcasting, both arcane and divine, and magic item creation, both arcane and divine. It then looks at the benefits for the character, which is more support between adventures, and for the GM, which is less paperwork.

Option 2: Patron Country makes the character a local hero and they gain local support. The entire country is favoured terrain, the country’s creature enemies are favoured enemies, like a ranger, travel through the country is faster and goods are cheaper. The benefit to the player is knowing exactly how allied NPCs will support you mechanically and the benefit to the GM is again less paperwork and it can even be used at low levels.

The PDF lacks bookmarks and at this length doesn’t need them. Navigation is fine. The text maintains the old three-column landscape format used by Super Genius Games and appeared to be almost free of errors. There are a couple of pieces of stock art. Presentation is okay.

This supplement has some interesting options for a feat that otherwise just provides the character with a small army, which is useful when a small army is needed, but that’s probably not very often, and a single perhaps overpowered NPC. Instead, there are some interesting options including one that makes a character’s country more important to the game. #1 With a Bullet Point: 2 Options for the Leadership Feat has some useful options and it can be found by clicking here.
